Spider Orchid Care after Flowers Die

 

I love Spider Orchids with their large  flower spikes that can have as many as 15-20  flowers on them at a time.

It’s very important that Spider Orchids (Brassia orchids)  rest for about 6-8 weeks after they have finished blooming.

Here are some after bloom care tips:

Instead of the bright indirect light they usually like, put them in lower light.

Place your Spider Orchid in a cooler area (though not in any area below 60F (16C).

Brassia orchids need more water when developing flower buds and blooming. Once the flowers have died, allow the medium to almost dry out before watering again.

Do not fertilize once the blooms have died. Start feeding your Spider orchid again once new growth starts to develop.
