Red Aloe cameronii

I saw what I thought was an aloe plant growing at a friends house but it was red. She didn’t know what it was. Now it’s getting tall spikes with red flowers. Is it an aloe or some other kind of succulent plant? I really want one.

I think you saw an Aloe camarone or Red Aloe. It’s a suckering Aloe Plant with numerous stems of open rosettes up to 2 feet (60 cm) that are medium to dark green. In the summer these stems turn a beautiful coppery red. An added plus is that it gets 1 foot (30 cm) tall spikes of bright orange-red flowers in late fall and early winter.
