Please help me identify my plant

I inherited this plant when my mother passed away along with all her other plants. I never had a green thumb but I seem to be doing okay now. I do not know what this plant is or how to take care of it. It was all standing up at one point now it seems to be falling all over the place please if you could explain what is going on or what I’m supposed to do I would be grateful.

Hi Kim,

Your plant is called an Arrowhead plant (also called a Nepthytis). It can be an upright plant if you keep the long vines aggressively pruned back. Otherwise, it becomes a hanging plant with long runners. You can read all my care tips in the Popular Houseplant section of the website.

These plants are considered poisonous and should be kept away from pets and children. Read more about common houseplants that are poisonous in Don’t Feed Me To Your Cat! A Guide to Poisonous Houseplants.
