How to Propagate a Philodendron Selloum

Hi Judy, Please share suggestions for propagating a Philodendron Selloum.

Hi Sharon,

The best way to propagate a  philodendron selloum plant is by stem cuttings. Select a philodendron stem that has at least two nodes and cut it off at the base near the soil line. Plant the cutting in a small container of loose soil mixed with peat moss. The bottom node on the stem should be in the soil. Roots will develop from the nodes. if you want to move the plant to a new, lighter container, select a pot that is 2” larger than the root ball of the plant and never more than 1 size larger than the existing pot. A Split leaf Philodendron is a poisonous and should be kept away from small children and pets. Read more about common houseplants that can be dangerous in my book Don’t Feed Me to Your Cat: A Guide to Poisonous Houseplants
