How to Care for a String of Pearls Plant

Hello Judy,
I was recently given this amazing plant as a gift, however I have no idea what it’s called or how to care for it! I really want it to flourish, and am so worried about it dying! It’s already starting to look unwell.
Please help! Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Isabelle,

Your plant is a String of Pearls plant, Senecio Rowleyanus. Here are some care tips to help you grow and care for it. Water: This is a succulent plant that stores water in its plump leaves so be careful not to over water. I find that if I allow the green bead -like leaves to get a little flat and then water well, the plant is quite happy. During the winter, when the plant is resting, water even less. Light: A String of Pearls plant likes very bright light and even some morning direct sun. Fertilizer: Feed monthly from April to October with a balanced, liquid plant food diluted to 1/2 the recommended strength. Temperature: A String of Pearls plant likes warm temperatures between 70°-80°F (21.1°-26.6° C). Soil: Use a succulent or cactus potting mix that drains quickly. Flowering:  String of Pearls produces tiny, white, fuzzy scented flowers.
