Gorgeous HousePlant is a Caladium

What is this gorgeous houseplant my boss gave me for my birthday. There was no name on it?? How do I care for it? Thanks, Monica

Hi Monica,

Your plant is called a “Blushing Bride” Caladium. The picture you sent was a little blurry so I replaced it with a clearer one taken at Longwood Gardens in Pennsylvania. Caladiums are not easy to care for, but they are certainly beautiful. A caladium is a tuberous rooted perennial that originally came from South America. Caladium plants, whether indoors or outdoors, die back and become dormant in the fall and stay that way until early spring. ¬†You can read all about Caladiums and how to care for them in the Popular HousePlant section of the website.
