Gorgeous HousePlant is a Caladium

What is this gorgeous houseplant my boss gave me for my birthday. There was no name on it?? How do I care for it? Thanks, Monica

Hi Monica,

Your plant is called a “Blushing Bride” Caladium. The picture you sent was a little blurry so I replaced it with a clearer one taken at Longwood Gardens in Pennsylvania. Caladiums are not easy to care for, but they are certainly beautiful. A caladium is a tuberous rooted perennial that originally came from South America. Caladium plants, whether indoors or outdoors, die back and become dormant in the fall and stay that way until early spring.  You can read all about Caladiums and how to care for them in the Popular HousePlant section of the website.
