My Mom has a jade plant that has the most gorgeous flowers but she can’t remember the name of it. I want to buy one since she says it’s really easy to care for. It has big pink flowers on it. Does it sound familiar to you??
Hi Gracie,
I think you might be talking about a Crassula “Morgan’s Beauty.” Jade plants are in the Crassula family. Here’s a picture, let me know if I have the right plant.
This is really an easy care plant! Over watering is the only way you can kill it! Here are some care tips.
Light
A Crassula needs very bright light. It is one of the few houseplants that can slowly get accustomed to direct sun. If the plant leaves do get burned while adapting to the sun, they will fall off and be quickly replaced with sun tolerant leaves. A Crassula must be sitting in very bright light to produce flowers.
Water: These plants are succulent houseplants. All Succulent Plants store water in their thick stems, leaves, and roots. Allow the plant to completely dry out before watering. Lower leaves that are soft or crinkly indicate that a it is ready to be watered.
Fertilizer: These are slow-growing houseplants that do not require a great deal of plant food. Feed a Crassula Plant with a fertilizer low in nitrogen every other month at 1/4 the recommended strength when the plant is actively growing.
Temperature: Keep the plant in an area that never goes below freezing or above 90 degrees. Cooler temperatures help it bloom more.
Humidity: Succulents prefer slow humidity.
Flowering: Mature Crassula Plants tend to bloom around Christmas when the daylight hours are short and the temperatures cool.
