Are Coffee Plants Poisonous?
Just got a Coffee Plant in bloom as a present. A friend who saw it says it’s poisonous. How can that be since we can eat the coffee beans it produces?

Coffee Plants are considered poisonous especially to dogs, cats, and horses because of the caffeine in the fruit, leaves, and beans. The caffeine in coffee plants is a natural plant defense that protects the seeds of the plant from being eaten. Although caffeine is not very harmful to human beings, anything containing caffeine should be kept away from your pets.
