HI JUDY, I HOPE THIS MESSAGE FINDS YOU IN ENJOYING LIFE, I HAVE ATTACHED TWO PICTURES OF MY SPIDER PLANT, FOR ABOUT TWO TO THREE MONTHS NOW, WHEN I WATER IT THE WATER RUNS RIGHT OUT, I TRIED ALLOWING IT TO SIT IN A TRAY WITH WATER, BUT IT SEEMS TO NOT SUCK UP ANY WATER EITHER, DOES THIS PLANT NEED REPOTTING? IF SO DO I HAVE TO WAIT TILL SPRING 2014 TO DO IT, I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO DO, I DON’T WANT TO LOSE IT.
Hi Darryl, Life is good, thanks for asking. Your plant is beautiful. From the size of the plant and the size of the pot, I think it needs repotting. The roots of a mature spider plant are quite large and have probably taken up the entire pot. You may even have to break the pot to remove the plant. You can repot a spider plant any time of the year. Have you used the babies to start new plants?
