Identify Beautiful Flowering Plant

Hi Judy, can you please identify my beautiful house plant and provide improper care instructions.
Thank you,
Cindy

Hi Cindy,

White Amazon Lily
Amazon Lily

Your plant looks like an Amazon Lily (Eucharis grandiflora). An Amazon Lily is a bulbous perennial plant.

Light: Bright indirect light but no direct sun.

Water:  Keep the soil moist but not soggy. Water much less when the plant is resting during its dormant period.

Humidity: These plant do best in higher humidity. You may have to put a small humidifier in the room or set the plant on a wet pebble tray.

Temperature: Basic household temperatures 60°-75°F.

Soil: Use a rich organic soil that drains well.

Pot: These plants like to be root bound in small pots.

Fertilizer: Feed monthly in spring and summer with a liquid fertilizer that contains a lot of phosphorous. This helps the plant bloom more. Always dilute the plant food to 1/2 the recommended strength.

Flowering: They usually flower twice a year, once in the winter and then again. After the plant finishes flowering it needs a rest!  Reduce the water and stop feeding the plant for several months, then return to your usual care.

These plants are considered poisonous and should be kept away from pets and children. Read more about common houseplants that are poisonous in Don’t Feed Me To Your Cat! A Guide to Poisonous Houseplants.
